Using beverage carton as a drink packaging has become increasingly popular because the qualification of the beverage carton matches with what the producers and the consumers are looking for as it helps maintaining and sustaining the quality of the product while offering the convenience of delivering products to the consumers. The research on packaging has shown that, in Thailand, there is large amount of beverage carton ended up at the dumpsites everyday, approximately 30,000 – 40,000 ton/year.
      The beverage carton is made from good quality materials that can be used as recovery resources in making cardboard paper and green board. The layers of beverage carton are;
      Beverage carton group support challenge and support the project participants to find innovation on techniques, mechanisms, and system that will enhance beverage carton collection and sending to factory effectively and sustainable. The key message of this challenge is: “conscious awareness to reduce volume of garbage, to collect beverage carton for recycling, and to save natural resources”.
     “Beverage carton” means an efficient package for liquid foods, made largely from paper – a renewable resource.  It is a popular package for juice, milk and other liquid foods around the world.
     “U.H.T.” has layers of paper, aluminum foil and poly ethylene. It can keep the contents fresh at room temperature for 6 months or more.
     “Pasteurized” has layers of paper and poly ethylene. It needs to be kept in the refrigerator for the fresh contents.
     Now, it’s time to collect the used beverage cartons.  We need to make sure that the used beverage cartons are dry (can be washed or just drain), then flatten.  This process will coming out with the space minimization and convenience to keep and bring to the recycle factory.
